Tom Nelson

Executive Chairman

Tom Nelson is an award-winning author and speaker and the founding pastor of Christ Community Church, a large multisite church in Kansas City. He is also the founder and executive chairman of the national nonprofit Made to Flourish, which helps church leaders equip their people for everyday life in the workplace and the economy.

Nelson is the author of four books: Why Your Work Matters (2025), The Flourishing Pastor (2021), The Economics of Neighborly Love (2017), and Work Matters (2008). He has served on the board of regents of Trinity International University, is a founding council member of The Gospel Coalition, and previously served on the leadership team of the Oikonomia Network. He earned degrees from the University of Kansas, Dallas Theological Seminary, and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

In addition, he hosts the God’s Work podcast, where he explores how following Jesus reshapes the way we approach our everyday work—from emails and meetings to family rhythms — as spaces of spiritual encounter and mission. New episodes are released weekly.
