When I taught undergraduate students I often said to them, “Some of you should not be in college; some of you should be working with your hands.” This COVID-19 moment has magnified this truth. David Goodheart agrees, and he states that this COVID-19 pandemic has taught us that hand (manual work) and heart (care work) will once again claim back some of the prestige and reward lost to head (cognitive work). Churches have a responsibility to build a bridge between those divinely designed for hand and heart work and also those designed for head work.
