For many, work is the single largest time commitment in life. And for many, faith and church community are the most meaningful commitments in life. Elaine Howard Ecklund, professor of sociology and director of the Religion and Public Life Program (RPLP) at Rice University, is currently leading a national study to understand how people integrate these two facets of life.
Elaine says about the project: “Our goal is that detailed data collection and carefully designed outreach efforts will put easy-to-understand data into the hands of as many U.S. clergy as possible and create networks of clergy who are trained to meet the spiritual needs of working men and women.”
Please join us for a conversation with Elaine aimed at helping campus ministers and pastors understand what she’s discovering about faith and work through this research, and what it means for our efforts to help students and young adults prepare for a lifetime of Christian faithfulness in the workplace.
