Dayton Luncheon – Paul and His Marketplace Ministry
We often envision the Apostle Paul as a dedicated missionary who spent all of his time preaching and teaching. That picture ignores the Scriptural evidence that Paul spent considerable time in the marketplace and recognized its importance for his life and ministry. In this presentation, Paul Pennington will unpack several principles that demonstrate the centrality of the marketplace in Paul's work.

This will be our opportunity to compare notes on “lessons learned” that we can share for future application here in Cincinnati, and more broadly through the national Made to Flourish network. We have a substantial group of local churches participating already, with some more exploring the opportunity. We look forward to seeing you!

Imagine outreach ministry that creates fresh avenues for evangelism and discipleship, reaches people that traditional outreach initiatives would miss, and brings new people to a congregation who would normally bypass local church altogether.
Our guest speaker, Pastor Kevin Schwieger, grew up as a missionary kid, born to third generation missionary parents in Kenya, Africa. He has been a missionary himself with Athletes in Action (Campus Crusade for Christ), as well as a church planter.
Kevin is now harnessing Greater Cincinnati’s marketplace as a mission field. An Associate Pastor creatively deployed in the private sector, Kevin is coming alongside Christian entrepreneurs to disciple them in their vocational work, and creatively evangelize customers and employees.
Kevin’s results have been dramatic and life-changing. Come hear some of his stories, and leave with a far deeper appreciation for the power of outreach ministry through the marketplace.

This month we have the privilege of welcoming Glenn Barth, one of the nation’s leading practitioners in city reaching/city transformation. As a former pastor and para-church leader, he has deep insight into the potential of the local church to advance the “peace and prosperity” – the “flourishing” – of a city. Glenn leads Good Cities (www.goodcities.net), which consults and coaches with cities around the country.

IMAGINE THE CHURCH as a Force for Economic Restoration
One of the defining characteristics of the Church is its service to the vulnerable in times of distress. Today’s Church is recognized for bringing relief after disasters of all kinds, and for meeting the pressing needs of the poor. What if the Church were one of the first places where people would turn for guidance in times of economic restoration? What if the Church were one of the most important economic contributors in the marketplace?
Join us to explore the capacity of the Church to point the way and lead the charge for revitalizing economic health after a crisis like COVID-19.
