Relationship Building During Times of Crisis – The Scattered Church (Richmond and Hampton Roads)
April 3 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT
Presenters: Pastor Natalie Chamberlain, Bishop Designate Gail Roberts-House, Pastor Justin HouseFree
“We should know a lot more about the affects of the virus and downturn in the economy on already hurting communities about two weeks from now. I feel like I am overwhelmed with the fear I’m seeing with communities already on the margins… which means they have no margin to weather this crisis.” (Mike Gregg, Pastor in Dallas, Texas)
Join us, Hampton Roads and Richmond Made To Flourish City Networks, as we have a discussion with Pastor Justin House (Richmond,Va.), Bishop Designate Gail Roberts-House (Hampton, Va) and Pastor Natalie Chamberlain (Newport News, Va) as we talk about “Relationship Building During Times of Crisis”. How do we “manage” the Scattered Church. What does community look like when we have turned the lights off, locked the doors and their is no more socialization within the context of the institutional Church.
Will “social distancing” erode the institutional gathered church and perpetuate a smaller relational scattered church since people are now communicating and caring for one another without direct pastoral oversight. Will these informal networks and groups become formalized based on needs and desires that were previously unknown?
